London to Cannes in an LP560
Hi all,
Not had time since i got back from my first holiday of the year to do a write up so figured i'd put together a few posts from my recent trip. We went from London to Cannes via the Eurotunnel. I went with my best mate and met up with some girlies down there for 5 days.
We decided to leave on a Thursday night, yes night! We planned on hitting the tunnel around 10 and to drive through France through the night. I don't think i'd do that again, it was a very tough drive to say the least! It was a load of fun though! It's very scary but the freeways in France can go for miles without so much as a single streetlight - they are pitch black and it made the night drive far harder than expected as you simply can't see that far down the road. The navigation unit was flawless except it took us through Villneuve and off the motorway around 5am and it was the most incredible country backroads...which would have been great at any other time but it made for slower progress (even at mental second and third gear turns and roundabouts every few hundred yards)!
The car was absolutely flawless, comfortable and a pleasure to drive. The nav unit was perfect, the ipod hookup is great, something i didn't have in my 360 and the rate at which the LP picks up speed is simply phenomenal. It's incredibly solid and I hit an easy 191mph in it on the way back in Cannes.
Here's the pics:
Leaving Central London

On the EuroTunnel circa 10pm

Fill up in the middle of nowhere in France

Reminder for my mate which side of the road to stay on (this was taken from outside the vehicle)

My mate actually driving on the way out there - 1hr 45 mins of heaven for me and 10 hours of painful night driving! I later found out that the bastard had gone out partying the night before we left and that was why i had to drive through the night pretty much the whole way. It was painful!

Arrived in Cannes after 850 miles of driving:

Averaged 19.5mpg which i thought was incredible!

First night out partying:

Dinner in Cannes:

Drove down to Monte Carlo for dinner, had a flutter at the Casino which was beautiful albeit boring for an actual gamble.

Chilling at the beach:

Spotted this on the way to St. Tropez:

En route to ST

Went out on a mates boat:

Didn't get to go out on this guys (Roman Abramovich's floating palace - huge).

Maltese Falcon was stunning:

I think this is called the 'A' Boat:

Heading back to Calais

BUGZZZZ

Calais for the Eurotunnel

Close up of the bugs!
