I say it is a prototype for a race car version, testing on wider tyres which allow more speed etc? Usually bigger in size.

woah this is definitely interesting! It's always interesting to see all the companies under VW switching around engines and parts like they did with the VW Golf W12-650 using the Bentley engine.

Maybe they were just re-using some old Bugatti parts. Why throw out expensive wheels and tires when Lambo could test with them?

They could even just be evaluating the car with a different wheel and tire combo - seeing how the weight and tires handle.

After everything they put into building the ISR transmission, and publicly announcing they aren't making any more manuals, I doubt it.

I'd guess they're taking the aventador body up to their planned SV model's top speed to see how stable the body is at high speeds and if it's around 230-235mph they know the veyron tires won't fail them. Just a guess tho.
