i think this best front plate solution ive seen... lay the plate down flat inside the lower valence. it is much more aerodynamic and doesnt ruin the lines of the car.
you can say that there is no other mounting option, or that mounting it vertical would hurt airflow to the cooling ducts (which is true), and i think depending on how friendly the officer is, most would be happy that their is at least a plate there.
i would definitely try it this way for awhile, until being told otherwise.
