Looking to reupholster steering wheel

Anyone know a good place to reupholster a steering wheel? I was thinking of getting my steering wheel redone in suede while my car was being repaired since parts are taking forever.

Thanks!

Excellent tip. Their configurator is great!

Though for a basic suede wrap it's pretty close to the cost of a new wheel.

Nah, you have to give them $1000 which they refund when you send in your core. Still very cool for anyone wanting lots of customization.

Gvan,

Doing the rim in suede is going to run around $975 for the 2004-2006 Gallardo wheel and $750 for the later models. So it depends on what year car you have. I think new wheels are a bit more. But the new wheel comes with Lamborghini's patented 'ultra fast wearing suede' and only black stitching. With us, you can specify every aspect of the wheel. And you do not have to get carbon! And we do have core wheels in stock so we send you a new wheel and then you send your old one back. So the car is not off the road - although in your situation that seems to be the case already.

Here is a link to the Configurator for the two years:
2004-2006: MAcarbon Wheel Configurator
2007-2010: MAcarbon Wheel Configurator

On the later style wheel, we don't show an option for only reupholstering but it is available.

And if you took your wheel to a local shop, you would probably get it done for less, but we've done quite a few Gallardo wheels at this point so you can be assured it will be done right.

Feel free to PM, email, call etc and we can discuss it further.

John,

Thanks for the info. I saw the configurator and it's very nice!

And indeed, taking the car in for a service was not a good idea. Went in with a slightly off-center steering wheel, left with 60k in damage.

I'll give it some thought. I do have another question though. I have an 04 which doesn't have the crest on the center of the airbag cover like the 05+ cars have. This is something I'd really like, but unfortunately Lamborghini only sells that part with the entire airbag module. Anything you can do for me there?

Thanks!

Greg

I think the airbag on the '04 is a one-year only model so you might be stuck with that version. The airbag could have a leather/suede skin done with an embroidered bull I would think.
