Car: 2012 Lamborghini LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale Coupe (#65/150)
About the car: Only 150 of these limited edition Gallardos will ever be made and is basically the road legal version of their Super Trofeo race car. They started with a 570-4 Superleggera and stuck on pieces of the Super Trofeo race car. For starters, the massive rear wing which generates 3 times the downforce of a normal Gallardo which aids in high speed stability and cornering. Other pieces include the carbon fiber vented rear engine bonnet, flush mounted racing pins on the front hood, along with other carbon fiber goodies. This brings the weight down to just slightly over 2,950 lbs. My only complaint is that I wish they included the menacing front bumper thats found on the actual race car.
Performance: 570hp V10. 0-62 comes in at a mere 3.4 seconds topping out at 200mph.
The Colour: Rosso Mars: I’ve always felt Ferrari should only wear red and that Lamborghini should stick to their insane greens, oranges, and yellows. However, upon seeing this car in person, I was absolutely delighted to see how well this Gallardo wore the red. Unlike Ferrari Red and Rosso Corsa, in typical Lamborghini fashion, they threw in some metallic gold flake to add an extra dimension pop and pizzazz.
Driving Impression: Light on its feet, neck snapping acceleration, nimble, agile, and very easy to drive. I didn’t get it up to a high enough speed to really feel a discernible difference the added aero pieces made.
Gear: Nikon D300S + Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8
