Just don't pull a Williams and undo your seat belts, breaking your back!

NFC. Put anything without at least a roll bar on its lid while wearing them, and you'll shoot your spine through your head.

The McLaren F1 is the only thing I've ever seen that has a safe implementation of a harness in a cageless street car.

They are pretty, though.

I love those new racing seats. I too prefer arm rests to bucket seats.

Those harnesses are so sweet Roy. Can't wait to see photos of them installed. The interior looks so naked without them. Does Lamborghini make a roll bar for the SV?

Looks great. Seems more often than not, USDM cars get wattered down some. Granted this is a small change only.

So why are they dangerous on the street?

If your in a collision on the street with a three point harness, your head will do the same thing as if a shoulder harness right? The 4 pt will hold you in the seat better than a 3 pt. I dont see the disadvantage.

I understand the roll cage in a street car ect. but not the harnesses.

The way I understand it is that your body has more give in the seat belt and can absorb the impact more, reducing the strain on your neck. In a harness, if you are strapped down tight, the only part of your body which can move is your neck. Hence why they now have HANS.

If i am wrong then someone correct me.

I suspect that the reason the DOT doesn't allow them has to do with how they would work with all shapes and sizes of people and the ability to cut yourself out should you be trapped. There is a general assumption made with four point belts- that the person using them is fully functional. I think they look great, but hard to say they will be more or less effective. If you do roll in any Murcielago variant, the most important thing is getting out of the damn thing. Those scissors doors don't work shiny side down, leaving a very small escape route and very little time to get out. It would be interesting to know why they don't allow them.
