I wonder if the sequential gearbox will operate similar to the oakley design unit for 911s? A true sequential, ie like something in a GT/cup car would be awesome. Use the clutch to get rolling and then just pull back to up shift.

^^^ No, it is rumored to be next generation of e-gear transmission, much faster and much more refined, but do not expect any revolutonary changes.
Some updates now. There is conflicting information coming about the chassis options - some sources state that it will be complete CF chassis, some sources state that it will be aluminium chassis with plenty of technology borrowed from AUDI, there are even news about aluminium and CF chassis with technology both from AUDI and Lambo latest composite materials research with Uni of Washington. Seems that no one knows for sure as for now.
But one thing is almost for sure - the highspeed will be increased even further to about 360 km/h and 0-100 km/h time to be about 3.0 seconds. That is the latest information that came in.
Imprortant information about V12 production line also - as member trax posted some time ago Murcielago line will be closed late June this year, I have recieved similar information, than retooling process will take place, than late this year first production specs Murcielago successor cars will start to roll from reworked V12 production line with the most probably place of public debut at Geneva auto show next year, with sales to start in April/May 2011.

Small update by Autocar in the article about hardcore R8 version and future R8 replacement plans - Murcielago successor will not use DCT. Seems that Lamborgihi really working on the next generation 7-speed e-gear as I have mentioned earlier.
Lamborghini is resisting the move to a dual-clutch gearbox. The Murciélago replacement will not use a DSG ’box, either.

This might be a grainy, long-distance spy shot, but even from far away it’s obvious that this sleek wedge is Lamborghini’s 2011 replacement for the Murcielago. Taken near Estoril in Portugal, this image is our latest look at 2011’s new range-topping Lamborghini supercar.
The new 2011 Lamborghini Murcielago looks a bit, well, ‘Eighties’…
So you’ve spotted the strakes in the side intakes then? And of course the wedge shape was going to remain, emphasised by the short length – today’s Murcielago is shorter than a Mondeo. Expect the final design to be Reventon-inspired and a strong step forward from today’s Murci, but it’ll still be a Lamborghini and it’ll definitely be dramatic – scissors doors will (of course) be present.
Like today’s Murcielago the next-gen supercar will have carbonfibre bodywork, but the new bull from Sant’Agata will also have a carbon composite tub instead of the welded steel spaceframe used by the current car. The lightweight diet will mean that, despite coming with four-wheel drive, the Murcielago’s replacement should dip well under 1500kg.
Power will come from a naturally aspirated, direct-injection V12; displacements of 6.0 and 7.0-litres have been rumoured but whatever the engine size this new Italian supercar will have over 700bhp.
Don’t expect a DSG ‘box for seamless shifting though: Lambo has shied away from the twin-clutch technology in favour of sequential manual gearboxes that offer more excitement (and aren’t as expensive to develop).
It will easily top 210mph too, but there’ll be a £300k pricetag to match the performance. Looks like the bullish spirit of Miura, Countach and Diablo is alive and kicking.

The price tag is rumored to be about same as SV, due to the absolute lack of competitors do not expect it to be cheap. Both Enzo successor and Pagani C9 will be much exclusive and will be produced in less numbers, also the price tag will be more than double of the price that will be asked for Murcielago successor, at same point it is really doubtful if they will be significantly better in performance than Murcie successor. But according to some rumors Lamborghini will prepare a nice surpise for the high-end league some time after Murcielago successor launch. Do not know if it will be Urus project rumored some time ago or some other project.
Also, I am already tired of coments on other resources about design - this is only mule and the final product will be different.
The main concern that bothers me is issue with L-doors, due to the Lambo planning full CF door construction traditional doors could be changed with new McLaren, SLR, Enzo or K-segg style doors, not the copy, but the idea would be close.
In all other dimensions this car will be really next step for Lamborghini in style, technology and materials used in this car. Due to light weight and very powerful engine expect amazing power-to-weight ratio and great acceleration and topspeed. CF chassis is more like the reality than rumors also.
There is hard to amaze anyone with 200-205 mph topspeed, so expect Murcielago successor to be significantly faster than those numbers. It is a bit like wishful thinking to expect Veyron-like dynamics, but from the latest information seems that no one will be disappointed with acceleration and topspeed number of production specs Murcielago successor.

After getting some info, I can say that basically Autocar's information is pretty like a spot-on. Car will have CF chassis, think monocell one of MP4-12C, but a bit different construction. Shorter that Murcielago, scissor doors are no more, doors will open to the side and then up, it is for lower weight purspose. Interior will be all-new and it set to be great. Acceleration figures to be about the same as Autocar mentioned, topspeed likely to be even higher - about 370 km/h. Car is set to get 21'' wheels and second generation of Brembo CC brakes. Car is set to priced slightly lower than LP640, but there will be less standart equipment and more options, there will be also new option to make the customization possibilities wider. So the loaded car can end up being rather pricey, but I think it will be worth its price.
Yes, this car will be huge step forward for Lamborghini and I dare to say one of best for the price.
Also, according to the latest information this car will be presented to dealers and VIP customers this July where dealers are set get all official facts, specs and name of the car, also photos and price lists. So we will need hints from you then
Let me tell you that this new car from rumors in the factory I've heard is going to be one of the most uncompromising super cars out. For those who have experienced the change from the 08' Gallardo to LP560, you will be blown away by the technology and performance they through in this car. The 640 is well in need of a facelift with some punch behind it. Will keep you up dated on new info!
