Can I add my two cents but be aware this is just a guess. World not a future Gallardo be based around a future Audi R8 or visa versa as both cars share a lot of major components? Also with Audi holding the purse strings I would presume they would look to keep development costs down by doing a joint development. And with an R8 replacement not due for at least 3 years I suspect the current Gallardo will be around for a while.

Don't the trucks have 8.1L engines?

Some updates - rumors by Autocar are almost true, this car will be huge step forward in every single dimension, Lambo door will stay of course, to say even more, rumors are that Gallardo successor will have brand new door opening way, very similar to traditional Lambo doors. Expect very innovative materials to be used, in body and interior design expect to see some Reventon and Estoque clues, as soon as Da Silva'a team is working on design, very aggresive, with imidiately recognized Lambo DNA. Some sources say that this car will feature closing/opening side ducts to provide cooling and insuring dramatical effect, expect active aerodynamics to be used also, similar idea like on 458 Italia, but different approach. Expect also Jota Roadster to be launched in year time after Jota coupe, this model will be developed to feature CF removable top panel from the very beginning. Some sources keep insisting that Urus is also in the works and developement is moving forward, but some huge news are not expected before Jota launch early 2011.

Finally, new Roadster will have better roof than Murciélago Roadster. I really dislike it on Murciélago R.

From Car Magazine:

Not the most subtle prototype to be testing in the winter snows of Sweden, we think you’ll agree. The new Lamborghini Murcielago replacement made quite a stir when it appeared for some winter testing.

This is our clearest view yet of the new Lambo V12, which is due to go public in spring 2011. It’ll be roughly the same size as today’s Murcielago and keep the flamboyant wardrobe intact. Although all-new, familiar motifs such as scissor doors are a must.

Sant’Agata’s new range-topper will be made largely from carbonfibre this time, bringing a handy drop in kerbweight. The Murcielago has always been remarkably nimble for such a big car, but a composite diet and carbon tub can only help improve the supercar’s poise.

Power will come from a V12 of around 6.0 litres in capacity. Judging by the current car’s 670ps output, power could spiral ever closer to the magic 700bhp total. Hold on tight! The new name for Lamborghini’s supercar is still shrouded in mystery. Jota has been suggested, but is likely the fruits of an early speculative guess. How many bull badges can there be out there?

True but just like the viper they use an extremely tall 6th gear to achieve emissions/consumption goals.

Both motors are based off of mass produced emissions legal motors.

But I must repeat, i want Lambo to keep the V12 to knock some sense into Ferrari for even contemplating the use of a V8TT for the enzo successor

Phrases like composite diet, weight saving, 700 hp, carbon fiber tub sounds like a amazing music to my ears. All what I want to know is if its really going to feature CF chassis.

So treu, even how amazing new V8 TT by Ferrari would be, it is so awesome to have NA V12, with 599 GTO rumored to be last Ferrari equipped with NA V12 and Pagani switching to V12 bi-turbo, seems Lambo is only one and only left with brand new NA V12. This definitely insures a market for this car and it is amazing.
