Buying Lambo out of warranty?
#3
No one even thinks twice about a $25K checvy truck doing 100K miles, but a 300K car going over 25K miles...OMG..
Of course for the money it SHOULD last a lifetime..
I have high miles on all my own Lambos and they are still perfect and have no second thought that they wont go 100K plus miles with maintance and good up keep.

If you can consider buying a Lambo you should have money to fix it!
But seriously the new Lambos are very reliable from my experience. I have owned several Lambos out of warranty and drove them like Lambos without issues.

to be fair, chevy trucks arent driven the same that an exotic may be. or, that the hp/L ratio or compression is not near as high, etc. my chevy truck has 86,000 miles and i refuse to tell how many 'maintenance' dollars have been spent thus far, but I will say that it is significantly less than the last set of tires i put on it. (knock on wood) (knock on wood)
what amazes me is that someone can find the scenario where they are alone or just with one person for that many miles in so few years, let alone want to spend the time taking something to the shop that many times for 'maintenance.'
OTOH, if a had several lambos, none of this would matter.

Lambo dealers charge about $900 for certifying the car. 2006 is eligible. However, certification will require some fixes to make the car perfect so expect to spend a few grand easily.
After it's inspected and certified, you can then choose to buy either a 1 or 2 year lambo warranty. THe warranty is limited to drive train and does not cover things like Nav or switches or rattles. 1 year warranty is about $3.5k and 2 year is about $7k.
This same warranty can be bought from dealer without the inspection / certification if car is still in factory warranty (basically 2008+). 2007 MY had a 2 yr warranty only.
I am not sure if the certification process is available to 3rd party cars and if it is transferable to new owner. Dealer can tell you that for sure.
I think the warranty can be considered if the car is sold by dealer. They can absorb some of the certification fee and warranty cost as part of the negotiation. Otherwise, you are spending $5-10k on a 1-2 yr warranty. Which to me seems worth looking at a 2008 to begin with. Just my 2 cents.
