Exclamation Rumormill: Reventón Roadster confirmed

By Sports Cars International:

Italian automakers Lamborghini launches production of Reventon Spyder supercar.

Planning to produce only 9 copies of the super open car. Reventon Spyder, in contrast to the coupe, based on the platform Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce, which inherited the full drive, reinforced frame and Safety 670-strong 6,5-liter V12. And the maximum speed in an open version of a few worse aerodynamics will be less than the coupe, accelerated up to 355 km / h.

Lamborghini Reventon Spyder will be one of the most expensive in the world of mass-produced car - the price will be about 1.6 million dollars. World premiere of new 2010 Lamborghini Reventon Spyder will be held in September at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show.

We are proudly to deliver one from the nine Lamborghini Reventon Spyer worldwide to one of our most VIP customer!

And by Autogespot:

AUTOGESPOT - Lamborghini gaat negen Reventon Roadsters produceren

Main point is that Reventon Roadster is confirmed by some inside sources and that it will be based on LP670-4 SV base.

Very Very lame. Most of the initial Reventon owners bought one under the assumption that only 20 would be built.

At least the Rev will now get the good bits from the SV. If I had bought one of the first Reventons though, I'd be pissed as well. Then again, at least half of the Reventons were bought by brokers anyway.

One more rumor.

Lamborghini Reventon Roadster – Unofficially Official today

We were beginning to wonder if our exclusive on the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster back in March was going to fall apart. We’d heard that Lamborghini were struggling to find enough punters to stick a deposit on the 9 cars originally planned, and that was accounting for the delay. But it looks like Lamborghini has given up on that plan, and are instead going to unofficially reveal the Reventon Roadster today to a bunch of likely clients.

There now seems to be a bit of confusion over exactly which powerplant the Reventon Roadster will use. Lamborghini’s original plan was to make a Roadster version of the Lamborghini LP670-4SV, but they’ve been having problems with all that power in a Roadster. So it now seems possible that they will effectively Reventon-ise the Lamborghini LP650-4 Roadster, which is already rolling down the production line at Lamborghini. That will still give the Reventon Roadster more power than its Coupe sibling, but not quite the LP670’s power.

Word is that Lamborghini will make as many Reventon Roadsters as demand dictates – up to a maximum of twenty. List price is expected to be €1.1 Million. but with only six or seven deposits taken so far it seems a bit unlikely they will manage to shift 20 Roadsters – as they did Coupes. Especially when the LP670 SV is only £275k and the LP650-4 Roadster £300k. Still, the LP650-4 is a bit of an ugly duckling in its grey and orange livery, so maybe someone will be prepared to pay three times as much to have a Reventon Roadster in a better colour scheme.

Can’t imagine there’ll be that many, though.

Lambocars administrator, same guy who wrote about LP550-2 launch more then a month before official information appeared, now claims that Lamborghini already showed Reventon Roadster to company's most priveledged customer at factory and gives some details about it:

Limited to 10 units
Price is 1.150.000,00 EUR + local taxes
Official presentation at Frankfurt Auto Show this September.

Understand it will be 15 cars, in matt silver, with the engine from the LP670 (though obviously a heavier car than the LP670), and a different exhaust
