I'd never want to live in SG. Small cramped with no where to go. It's even smaller than Hong Kong. Crazy!

Smaller in this regard is relative, because HK is more cramped - the population there is not evenly dispersed across the legal region (what do you call it here - city? state? sez?).
In SG, you are quick flight away from KL, HK, Australia, etc. How is it different from Chicago, in that regard? Nothing "worthwhile" is driving distance away but there's enough there to sustain a happy life. I personally wouldn't live in Chicago either, but hey...
I think SG would be a great place to stay. Low crime, it's clean and well organized, multi cultural, well developed and modern, 20% peak income tax, etc etc. The cons are high auto sales tax (to discourage private transit) and it's hot as F*.
