You could do the same in a Camaro or Mustang...

Well, actually, there probably are some 19 yr olds that would get in that car and think it's slow and unresponsive...

They're the ones that have been racing karts since their age was in single digits and are on the fast track to F1, or some other kind of career in professional-level motorsport.

+1. As painful as this is to read, being the father of two sons just slightly older than the young man in question, it seems that such a disaster could occur in any vehicle. Yes, much faster in this one and surely more alluring but lack of care or attention in a VW Golf, Chevy Aveo or a Smart could end up the same way. And not knowing the details of the accident, we don't know how much is the Lambo's allure versus exogenous circumstances.
The base reason I never would give a new car to a young man or woman is because they have to learn what it takes to earn it, to value it, and to take care of it. My older son is driving my 1989 Saab, younger one is driving our 1998 base model Jetta, and older daughter an old Forrester. Much learning is being had by all...
Nevertheless, a horror and my heart goes out to the parents and all others involved.

while i would not give a 19yr kid such a car (i knew how crazy i drove @ 23 in my supra), it's not the parents' fault - they weren't driving the car.

It is true that you can die or kill in any vehicle, But the temptation to drive recklessly is much higher in a sports car. This is proven statistically by insurance companies. Think of it as a woman. You get a regular looking chick and you get the urge to do it from time to time. But if you had say a gorgeous model or your dream girl with that perfect butt and lucious lips and soft nice breasts you probably would want to do it more often and maybe even more extensively.

It's not about a kid having a car that "powerfull" it's just being careless..There are plenty of 19-20 yr olds running around with 500+hp mustangs...etc..

There's a joy in working your way up to a nice car. Hell, I wouldn't want my future children to start out with a 500 hp Mustang or a Lambo. They'll do just fine in a safe, boring Volvo. Then when they mature, they can feel the joy in getting to drive something more fun.
Off course, you can die in any car, but the risk is a lot higher in fast cars.

That has to be the worst analogy I've ever heard. You realize drugs are illegal but an LP isnt, right?
