First of all, the availability. I have found an available 918 Weissach with an acceptable (subjective, of course) over price, but the P1 prices were just crazy. If that was LaFerrari vs 918, then that would be a different subject for me. But LaFerrari prices are starting from 2.x millions, so.. Easy choice
Second of all, I like the looks and technology of 918 better.

Interested to understand the mindset of those who can afford one of these hypercars. What made you decide on the 918 over the P1? What specifics moved you towards the 918.
I daydream of that choice and switch back and forth as to which one I would like as they are both spectacular cars. The usability factor swinging towards the 918 and the raw/fun factor swinging towards the P1.

I just had the opportunity two days ago to see a 918 in person for the first time - and I was absolutely blown away! It's truly a gorgeous car! I wasn't terribly impressed when they first came out (I know, I know it's an engineering marvel) but the car has so much presence in person and it is truly GORGEOUS!!
