Cayman S Black Edition #381/500 - 6 Speed Sport Shifter, PASM, Limited Slip Rear Diff

2012 Porsche Cayman S Black Edition #381/500 - 6 Speed Sport Shifter, PASM, Limited Slip Rear Differential Lock

The 2012 Cayman S Black Edition packs an extra 10 horsepower over the standard Cayman S and rolls on unique 19-inch Boxster Spyder wheels (the lightest 19" wheel Porsche makes). That bumps the final pony figure up to 330 hp, which helps the vehicle scoot to 60 miles per hour in a scan 4.6 seconds. The Cayman S Black Edition toes the same line as the Boxster S and 911 Black Editions by offering the Porsche Convenience package as standard equipment. Only 500 lucky buyers worldwide will get the chance to sink their teeth into this special limited edition model. Additional standard equipment includes adaptive bi-xenon headlights and rain-sensing wipers, and Navigation.

Geoff,

Lets just say someone *cough* was in the market for a Cayman and was looking at the BE's and the R's. Why would one pick this over the R? Or the R over this? (in your opinion) if we are talking the exact same price...

Thanks

Jon

If you know of someone in the market for an R or a BE, I would say go with the BE... We have a January production Cayman R that is still changeable and I would still probably take this car over it for one main reason and that is it's exclusivity. A big part of what makes this car special is knowing not a lot of people are going to have it and the R is not nearly as limited in production as this. I've heard there are only 100 BE's that are coming to the U.S. so you know if you have one you have something special.

Buuuuut Geoff, it's a blacked out Cayman S basically. An R is a different kind of Cayman.
