2010 Range Rover Sport
i really like the new improvements to the range rover sport so i spec'd out an hse with some modest options for around $65000 msrp as per the online builder on the land rover website and when i talked to my local dealer (frankel land rover hunt valley) they quoted me $1350 for a 36 month lease. i could finance this car at 60 months for less than $1200/month, so are they smoking crack or does this # sound right? has anyone priced one out yet?

However - this all depends on the lease rates, and terms - for example maybe that X5M was a 60mo lease with 8k due at signing... Was it the exact same lease time/mile/out of pocket money wise?
Also wyatt, the residuals on the M cars are not that great. But yes BMW usually has higher res values. Base 3series is a bit different... those are very very good.

X5M is not that bad for 15k, compared to what I'd have suspected.

That's because BMW whores out their product like nobody's business. Between their holdback, markup, and incentives, I can imagine that's the case. I doubt LR has the money back on the RR.

Better residual than RR by a couple points, also more markup and rebates. BMW gears themselves more toward that. I would not be surprised if in the next 10-15 years they suffered even more as a brand due to the way they treat their product. But could potentially be in deep water at the moment, I believe they are 60% + off currently. I was going over some of their sales training for the 3series and they mention verbatim how Audi's A4 is preferred in looks, interior quality, etc..
Regardless your numbers on the Rover sound right. Leasing is not what it was 10 years ago, 5 years, or a year ago. I believe this is due to the current state of the economy.
