I am a Porsche guy, always have been and always will be. I jumped in the R8 the first time I drove it and was blown away. Everything piece that your hands touch while driving has had no time nor dollar spared in designing/producing. Then you start the car... it has a nice deep growl, never too loud. Drive the car and it responds to your every input. It's comfortable beyond imagination while remaining a very sporty automobile. It is an absolutely incredible driving experience.

In comparison to the 997 C4S the Porsche comes in at a far second. The C4S feels numb. Both cars are similar in weight, but where the R8 feels light and nimble the C4S feels sloppy and heavy. The R8 also has a prowess over the C4S as it is the top of the line, limited, exotic... the C4S is just that... a C4S.

I hope that helps, but don't let me make up your mind. Drive them both and then decide. Before driving the R8 I would have chosen the Porsche just because I am a Porsche guy... but I am sorry my Porsche friends... between these two cars the Audi takes the cake.

No comparison really.
The R8 is truly the best all around all purpose car on the current market. I drove the 09 C4S with PDK before buying my R8, the P-car platform felt blah and outdated. I have owned many Porsches including 996GT2, TT and 997GT3 and they all needed suspension mods to get them stable on the road and track. The midengine , AWD and supension of the stock R8 is probably the best platform I ever driven on the road.

Just ask me, had an 09 PDK C4S that I got from Porsche of Orlando. It was gone Nov 22nd for an R8 6MT bought from Champion Audi. This is the best car I have ever owned and those who know me here from the 6 and *** know how I like to trade. BTW prior to the C4S had an 09 SL63

There's one in the Bay Area for MSRP ~ $137K. Should I work it down or am I a fool to do so?

I love Pcars but you can't beat the exclusivity of an R8. I still haven't seen one in person today (maybe it's my location) but still, such a rare and beautiful car with serious road presence. I haven't driven either one but based on looks alone the choice wouldn't be difficult for me.

I live in the Bay Area and I haven't seen one on the road either. Either they are all being kept as garage queens or I am not in the right place at the right time. In my end of town are a lot of MBs, Volvos, and SUVs. Not too many unpractical car in Palo Alto, CA. Probably largest concentration of MB station wagons you will ever see in the US of A.

I drive mine daily unless there's a snow storm. This car is as comfy, reliable and fun as it gets. Just make sure you get the upgraded stereo option.

Yes Stereo upgrade is a must the car works, functions and drives like a dream and it is so comfotable. It is like a German Ferrari with a great sound and easy to use Daily. It is my only car. I paid sticker.
