Rapide & One-77 styling carries over to the new DB9
Aston Martin will reportedly launch six new models over the coming six years, most being evolutionary successors to existing models in the Aston line-up. Some though are all-new, and the most important of these new models, the successor to the DB9, will reportedly arrive in 2013.
As our exclusive Teamspeed spy-pictures prove, styling will be traditional Aston with elements of the Rapide and One-77 to appear. Visual changes that jump out at us are the new headlights and bumper-mounted number plate. Reported use of lightweight materials like composite plastics and carbon-fiber will help to reduce cut the new Aston's weight by 150kgs if not more.
The new DB9 will be powered by the same 6.0-litre V12 used in the current DB9 but Aston Martin will be looking at slice CO2 emissions to roughly 300g/km and improve on the current car's fuel economy of 18mpg.
We expect to see the new DB9 make its official debut at the beginning of 2013.
