Lotus Evora vs porsche Cayman S
#11
I was, and am extremely disappointed with the Evora. Not only for it being a lackluster car-- everyone in the world puts it up against the Cayman S, which is lighter, faster and cheaper-- but also due to the continued "power problem" Lotus has been developing since the Esprit.
Original Elise, underpowered. Original Exige, underpowered. Evora, underpowered. While it's certainly fixable, either aftermarket or once Lotus gets around to a supercharged S model, it'd be nice if they'd get it right out of the box.
That mindset does not bode well for the new Esprit, which I reallyreallyreally want, assuming it doesn't turn out to be some hybrid monstrosity.

You're in trouble if you're competing with a Cayman model and its cheaper; those are not cheap cars at all!

Hi,
Just popped in from the old country - some interesting comments here. If you are interested to see how the Evora is faring (it was launched two weeks ago in Scotland, just up the road from me) you might want to check out a few of the reviews. Most rate it better than the 911 and the Cayman S and a few others besides.

The evora is a bad move, they should have pushed out the new esprit first.

Looks a little like my old beanbag that I had in the second grade...
I'm afraid you are right; would love to see Lotus do what they do best rather than try to move in on Porsche or other makes.

Couldnt have stated it better...this car is too much of a compromise in the most important areas. Get an m5 if you want to haul 4 reasonably sized adults around, otherwise the only lotus worth owning is the elise/exige w/ mods
