When I picked up my E90, the dealer had drilled holes into the front bumper. I asked them to give me a new bumper without any holes and they said no. But I don't have that car anymore, so it's ok.

It looks like they may have used an undermount bracket for the front plate, though, instead of drilling into the bumper. That would be ideal if you HAD to have a front plate on your car.
