RS3 testdrive.

RS3 testdrive.
Well the other day I had the pleasure of having a cheeky little test drive in a new rare audi rs3. Initial impressions, cost, wow the one i drove was 'specced' up and cost a staggering £46k, which I think is a painfully high price for what is at the end of the day a hatchback. Also, why would you ever consider this over a 1m or a really good second hand car bargain for the same price? You could have an Aston Martin DB9 in reasonable condition. Other impressions are that it looks great and very mean, interior is finished to a very high quality (as an audi always is) but didn't have a feeling it was anything special, apart from the Recaro bucket seats which are amazing and look brilliant, great steering wheel and driving position as well.
Sat in the car and pressed the 'S' button, immediately the exhaust became louder, this would be definitely staying on, and of course sport mode. Did some standard every day driving in slow traffic and the suspension is pretty stiff, no complaints there (something i like). Then drove on some windy roads and gave it the beans, the sound is brilliant and the car was very fast, but i have to say not as fast as I was expecting, it didn't seem to meet the manufacturers time of 4 ish seconds to 62 mph, it really didn't appear 4 odd seconds to 60 quick, but to give the car credit, it only had 40 miles on the clock and probably wasn't yet broken in, hence the slightly funny smell when the test drive was finished
Threw the car into a few corners and it was very competent, but i did detect a very slight slipping of the front wheels and a bit of understeer, which I didn't expect seeing as it is 4WD, but overall handled very well. The gear changes also were a tad on the slow side from the flappy paddles, but thats me being picky
In conclusion, i like this car but the price is a big issue, I think you expect something a little bit special for getting on £50k, I would have the 1M. Give it a 7/10 .
