my e63 depreciation!!

i drove home a new e63 exactly 6 months ago. it has 16 factory miles on it and a MSRP of 96K (apprx). it was discounted heavily and came with a subsidized MBUSA lease.

i have really enjoyed this car but unfortunately i do now have the ability to drive the same car for too long. i contacted the dealer where i purchased the car today. the car now has 8k miles and no a single ding or scratch. i was told over the phone that the most i can expect on a trade in would be 61K!!!! that is 35k below MSRP for six months.(i think the sale price was around 88K)

this is insane!! my buy out currently is 77k, so i will have to give them 16k to take my six month old car. i consider myself expert in trading back lease cars after six months as i have done it too many times, but this one is a true winner, or loser!!

I had the same issue with my E5. Great car, but MB's take a huge hit in the first year. It's only worth it if you know you are going to keep the car for the full lease term and then walk away when its done.

That's horrible.

Didn't you just have a thread last week stating how much you liked it and that you would be keeping it for the duration of the lease?

I feel your pain man. When I traded in my 911S, I took a big nasty hit but nothing like $35K in 6 mos... Wow.

although these things depreciate like rocks, that was only a dealer quote. i bet you could get pretty close to $77k if you sold it privately.

if you want a new car every 6 months, just add one instead of swapping out.

i don't think that was me. but i may be wrong. i usually insist on liking and keeping my lease until the end, even hours before trading it in!

mark, i agree. i only have 19 months left on the lease at 1250 a month. it would make no sense taking that penality. by the way, have you replaced the orange side markers yet?
