Personally I prefer the sedan. That being said it is noisy, stiff, loud and hysterically fun.
My good friend has a CLS63 and sent his brother in to buy the C63. We drove about three miles and laughing he turned to do back to the dealership. When I asked what was up he said "I can't even talk on my phone in this car, Jesus the exhaust is obnoxious. The ride is way to stiff for my commute. These seats would be impossible in a winter coat. And this thing would suck in winter even with snows"
He bought the next day.

we had almost the same scenario- guy had a S5 waiting for him at the local dealership and on a whim, stopped by test drove the car and his sentiments weren't far off from your buddies.
A day later we got a Matte Black on Black C63 Coupe. ....he drove off that day.
The 2012 C63 is the fastest selling AMG I've ever witnessed. The interior, exterior mods and new MCT transmission make ALL the difference in appeal and value.
