SLS AMG Black Series in works
#11
I am very much looking forward to both the SLS BS and GT3 variants. The latter should be especially insane and hilarious.
Regarding the SLR, the few I've seen had tremendous presence, a real sense of theatre about them, and of course that noise, but I don't think the design is aging that well, and the interior seems underwhelming. Of course, the SLS might age quite badly as well in ten years time.
Mo, you say you're looking forward to the next SLR. What sort of chatter have you heard about it?

I love the SLR, I just wish it was a bit lighter and had a manual gearbox (at least as an option). I also think that the interior could have been nicer on the regular SLR (too much plastic), although this was addressed on the 722 Edition, which came with more leather, alcantara, stitching, and carbon fiber. Those are my only minor complaints, otherwise I think it's a spectacular car, and I think the 722 Edition is even better because of the added sportiness.
I honestly think the SLS, on the other hand, is a perfect luxury sports car, which is especially surprising considering it's a Mercedes. I also think that the SLS is more of a driver's car than the SLR. I asolutely love the exterior and interior of the car, it performs very well, and I think it is extremely well priced (the regular SL65 has a higher base price, for God's sake). I think you get soo much car for the money. The car is just so unique and the fit and finish is superb. I obviously don't like that it isn't available with a manual gearbox, but it at least has a dual clutch transmission (which is becoming the norm these days, so I guess it is somewhat acceptable). I know that everyone has their own taste and is entitled to their own opinion, but I think this car is a huge feat for Mercedes and I'm very surprised that more people aren't as crazy about this car as I am. And just to mention, I have never been much of a Mercedes fan either.
All in all, both of these cars are absolutely fantastic and you couldn't really go wrong with either. Since the SLS and a mint regular SLR can be had for around the same price here in the states, I would think that prospective buyers probably compare the two.
