AMG Model Exaust Notes - Please Rank Them!
#1
Hi everyone, The title of this thread may sound a little funny, but I promise I am serious
My car is mainly my toy (I walk to work), and a toy should bring one joy... nothing brings me more joy when I'm driving than a w1ld-a$$ exhaust note.
Actually in another life (well 3 months ago) my toy was a 911S PDK (which I loved). I decided (due to reasons of acquiring a giant dog breed puppy) I needed to have a sedan, and ended up in the C63 AMG. One of the main reasons was its wonderful, w1ld-a$$ exhaust note... I just love downshifting into 1st when I near a stop sign and making all the pedestrians jump... I never claimed to be mature!
The other reason I went with the C63 was that I wanted a "tossable" sedan that had nice driving dynamics and that I could autocross with. It's not quite a 911 but it's closer to the 911 than it is to my old Jaguar XJ for sure... quite happy with my choice.
In my future life, I may decide to "fork" things a bit and make the jump to maintaining two toys... a track day coupe and a cruiser (but mean) sedan... which could open up my sedan options to beyond just the smallest of the AMG super sedans.
I definitely have a love affair with the whole lineup of AMG sedans and my question is this. If you had to rank all the AMG sedans you've had experience with, in terms of the loudness / wildness of their exhaust note, how would you rank them? Is the C63 the loudest? How about the AMG versions of E, S, CLS class?
For all you AMG fans/owners, would you say exhaust note is a big factor in what you look for in a car? I have to be honest, when I'm in a fast car, like an M3 or even my old 911S (before I modded the exhaust), when I'm driving in a spirited manner and the exhaust isn't screaming, it really seems like a let-down to me and makes the experience less sensory and exciting...
