AMG service.. Advice on what to do through MB or go aftermarket
So my service advisor at MB Manhattan just called me with a list of things he feels need to be changed and a estimate to go along with it. I was wondering do you guys feel that the prices are fair(include install and tax) or should I do some things aftermarket with better components for less money, and if so where could i do some work like this? Also since i do not like starting threads without pics i will post an unrelated pic of my car lolol. Thanks guys!!!!!
$355- Aux Battery
$1,054- Front Rotors and Pads
$75- Windshield Whipers
$194- Air Filter for engine
$125- Air Conditioner Filter

Windshield wipers $10ea at Walmart
Air filter $50 for premium paper at Napa
Cabin(A/C) filter $50 at Napa
Aux Battery??? $75?
I'm sure you could get the rotors and pad for half the cost as well if you have a friend who can help you do the work.

I wasn't thinking POS parts from autozone,i was thinking, parts from evosport or renntech etc....

Sadly, there's no "tuner magic" in the parts you describe - especially the filters (RENNtech uses K&Ns, Greens, etc. form Autozone). I'd try to find a qualified independent Mercedes shop, bring them the est., and ask them how much they can beat it by. You can probably hit 2 or 3 by fax/email in a matter of minutes.

Seems pretty expensive for Rotors/Pads... There prob charging a good amount for labor, where you could get that discounted at an independent shop.
Stoppie or Jo - Do you need to replace rotors, or can they be shaved?

Ok, the dealer has spoken...
There is no reason to pay the dealer premium for parts and more importantly labor out of warranty, unless of course you want to pad their pockets or have nothing better to spend your money on. Even if you do go OEM, which in the case of filters and stuff is fine, buy the parts online and have a reputable indy shop work on it. You should be able to save quite a bit.
edit: A quick search landed me the following -- OE front brakes for $500, cabin filter $25. Just to give you an idea.
