Kleemanization, in progress = Baby Monster into a serious contendor.

Hello Guys.

The title is obvious and by the end of march my Baby Monster, the small SLK55 will be a Kleemann: For those who dont know what Kleemann is its a serious performance oriented rubber burning and torque crazed tunning company that has grown to be one of the most respected tuners for those who want more out of their AMG's.

For my car's 2nd year anniversary, I've decided to do it justice by adding the Kleemann headers so it completes the N/A setup. For those who dont know, I have allready added some interesting modifications and infact I used to be the only one with the Kleemann 200 cell primary catalytics matched with the Supersprint/Carlsson x pipe but lately a member of our slk forum who I suggested went with this route and is very satisfied with the results on his SLK55 Black series which is much lighter than mine and has bucket seats.

I added an ecu upgrade and has a Vmax of 300kmh and beyond, a pair of green filters which add about 9hp to the crank which a fellow slkworld member achieved on his bone stock SLK55, Kleemann 200 cell 3" primary catalytics, Supersprint/carlsson x pipe which brings the total to about 395hp bu with the headers I am looking at another 30hp and 20tq increase bringing the total crank hp towards 425hp in a N/A setup.

By removing the heavy oem resonator with the SS/Carlsson x pipe I removed around 20kg and in total with the spare tyre which is also been removed the boot the weight loss is good for 45-50kg in total.

So I am now very very excited and hope to add a Kleemann LSD, Camshafts and their Lhysom Supercharger with Michelin PS2's.

If I do stick with my long goal, I hope to be in the 550hp range and gobs of torque down low putting many exotics to shame. I will try my best to stick with this goal.

Sounds like a nice setup that you'll have. It's clear that you love the car, which is fantastic.

I've been in love with the SLK's ever since I laid my eyes on the R170 which was available somewhere between 96 and 98. I wish I had something like an E55K instead of the Cayenne S as that would be a good daily driver with the panaromic roof.

I am an avid MB fan, hope to been in another AMG down the road not to replace the SLK but as another car in the stable.

Nice. One question though; do you think the tranny in the SLK55 can cope with your longterm goal (550 bhp + loads of tq)?

Moe once your start playing with the ECU make sure you use good grade fuel and its even more important if you ever go for the Lhysom Supercharger once you do that think Air temperature or ambient temperature . Its all fun to have more power but water and oil temperature will be your next problem . I don't want to sound negative but trust me these are the first things I look at when ever I start toying around with my cars. The Forums are great but I am sure none of the ones you know have as High ambient temperature as you do in Kuwait.
Just take care bro and think carefully before you do anything Kleemann is good but if you like them that much try to ask them to install a kit in our region and have them test there cars Like ABT did in the UAE trust me there power went down due to safer tuning.

Thanks Jaber and the gang, I agree the headers are the most bang of the buck and add a min of 20hp and 20tq.

Jaber, I am having second thoughts now as I tested the Kleemann SLK55 AMG S8 which is the 596hp however they stopped offering this program and the fastest you can get is the 550 S7, just reflecting about that it seems if I wanted to add another thing It will be the camshafts.

Again thank you for the comments its going to be a hell of a car, a Kleemann SLK.

Thanks for the comments and it will be a hell of a car and a sleeper I tell you, I am going to surprise some exotics with that power and low weight in street encounters.

As of today I am officially back ordered with the Headers, so I assume I might get my hands on them in 2 weeks or a months time. Will keep you guys updated, I was also just thinking of planning to get wheels and a lip spoiler for next year something like Carlsson U/L 16's.
