CL63 v. Maserati Granturismo S
#4
I think you can`t really compare those 2 cars...
imo the Maserati is just much more "upset" and outgoing, whereas the CL63 is a bodybuilder in a well fitted suit
I`ve never seen a Maserati GT driving by quietly...the CL AMGs are much more civilized in the lower rpms and offer a pretty decent ride comfort for an AMG
so 2 cars for 2 different kind of people or preferences
I myself would choose the CL over the Maserati
the noise, excitement and looks would be achieved with another car..a smaller sports car

Gran Turismo S. There are deals out there.
I LOVE AMGs, they are awesome (I want an E63). But, when you look at the CL 63, and drive it, what about it tells you how special it is? You won't ask that question with the Maserati.
Additionally, the GT-S can actually handle... The F1 trans model has 47/53 weight distribution and the CL has something like 53+ over the front. Even the GT-S Auto has 49/51 if I'm not mistaken.
Push the sport button to off, it quiets down very quickly.
With GT-S you get all of the aesthetics - looks, feel, sound and driving experience. The CL is a rocket but it will not deliver near the same driving experience nor does it have the looks. GT-S is beautiful and edgy but not over the top. If the CL 63 is "a suit" as it was put, it's a Brooks Brothers suit and the GT-S is an Armani suit... You decide

Chances are, if you're buying the GT-S, it's not to blast down the 1/4mi. Which is why I think that the handling and other aspects (aesthetics) of the car more than make up for having "only" 433hp. Just my opinion!

Been driving the 63 for a couple of days now and I must say, I am underwhelmed. It's heavy, not very engaging and certainly not as nimble as my 750il. Speed does build at an incredible pace yet getting there is anti-climactic. For the price difference, I really cannot justify over my BMW. Off to drive the mas!
