G63?

I am really thinking about trading in my Range Rover Sport in for a G Wagon are they going to put the new 6.2 V8 to replace the 5.5? I'd much rather have the N/A 6.2....

Thanks for your help

I love the G as well, but I prefer the S/C V8 over a N/A V8. Especially if you plan on modifying it. You will get gobs of HP from the 55 motor. Also I believe it has more torque than the 63 motor. What I like to see them do is keep the 55 motor and upgrade the 5 speed tranny to the new 7 speed tranny from the ML63.

As far as MB using the new 63 motor I have no idea. If they do the resale value on the 55s should go up as they are a very rare motor, the only S/C V8 motor left in the lineup I believe.

i think it's a matter of time til g63 arrives.

in stock form, 63 wins over 55. na engines r more reliable and have more power ready.

55 is more easy to mod. i think thats the main advantage

Also to add in, MB are not comfortable the 7 speed tranmission's lifespan and reliability with no more than 700NM of torque. The G55 produces 750NM and the 63 NA produces 680NM.

Thanks for your input this is going to be a "Family" car so the mods will most likely be rims, small system, and one killer exhaust..... The only reason I like the 6.2 so much more is the sound..... I cannot get over the sound of a good friend of mines CLS 63 with a Eisenmann exhaust. If I have to wait much longer I am going to just get a 55....

Stupid question but how do you all get the banner photos?

Probably why it is only available in the ML63. ;(

The G is way too massive, I think, for the NA motor to make sense there ...

The G63 is available, but oddly enough it doesn't have that NA V8, but instead it has NA V12, yes M275 without turbo's. Only 20 of them ever made, 11 of them were sold in UAE. No surprise, they just love unique G-Wagons.

The only reason I like the 6.2 so much more is the sound
I too prefer the sound of M156 engine. But IMHO, The brutal, with supercharger whine, SLR-alike sound suits G-Wagon more. M156 is a BIG no no for G-Wagon. JUST because of the lake of torque.

I don't think that's accurate - in my experience at RENNtech, the 55's were almost always making more torque everywhere in the rpm range, and had about the same whp, regardless of what the marketers said. It seems to me that the 6.3 was an ego-stroke for AMG, first, and a response to tightening emissions regulations, second.

For the same money, I'd take the Kompressor car anyday.
