The good folks over at Autobild have released several new leaked images of the upcoming Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing. Inspired by the classic 1954 Mercedes 300 SL, the new SLS AMG features a massive 6.2-liter V8 engine with 571 hp (420 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to the aforementioned engine and Mercedes' seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the supercar rockets from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph).

Despite these "early unveilings," Mercedes will officially debut the new SLS AMG Gullwing at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

love the side shot, but the front kind of looks like the 300SL and GTR mixed together.

 

I must say I have mixed feelings about this car.....

I mean, The 300SL is one of the best looking cars of all time imo. Trying to reinvent perfection is hard to do

 

I badly want this car, I love it a lot. Black on red with black wheels will look superb.

 

so no more SLR I'm assuming once this is launched but I suspect similar pricepoint?

I don't like it. Way to busy with all the vents and whatnot.

 

It has potential but MB's new design direction screwed up what could have been a gorgeous car.
