BBI Autosport CLK Black build pics part III Shocking
7 months ago we teamed up with Frank at JRZ to build us a damper assembly for the CLK BS. The Result is Awesome!
We had the dampers on a dyno for a few weeks. Then we put the spring and the damper together and tested them as a whole unit. The reason for this is we wanted more range of adjust for street driving while being able to easily dial them in for track days. We found that the factory unites had too little low speed compression dampening and the high speed compression was too aggressive... meaning that the car does not maintain stability during transitions well and does not have a great roll stability. When you hit small quick bumps while loaded in a corner, the chassis is easily upset.
We also wanted to get rid of some unsprung weight. The stock unites weights are 19lbs for each front and the rear are 12lbs per side. The JRZ units are 11.5 in the front and 7 in the rear. we were able to shave 25lbs off the unsprung weight. Needless to say, We are very pleased.
Enjoy

Looks great! Sounds like you put a lot of development time into this. Will JRZ make these in the future?
How did the ride quality on the street end up? Better/worse than stock? I'm constantly suprised how many nice cars get better ride quality than factory when they go to JRZ/Motons.

The race setup from KW is great, but it is 2 times the money, and it is just that...Race setup. We needed something for the customer that uses the car on the street as well. We found that the CLKBS drivers use the car on the street more then the track.

Guys if any of you are in SoCal, I'd strongly recommend you stop by BBI. I was there last week speaking to Betim about our wheels, and he gave me the grand tour.
I'll post under a seperate thread, but the place is INSANE! They have a engine room! lol

That is my room BTW, I sometimes sleep there. Yep, one insane place and crew. Gotta respect Frankie though.
