That's where I am. I can't decide on a case.

I have the red smart cover on the front of mine with a moncarbone case on the back. Pretty cool setup if you don't want a bulky case.

Please post a pic of the back cover and how the smart cover magnets meet that back cover. I'm looking for a minimal solution - may just get a sleeve.

I'm trying to decide between the two as well. Any advice?

Here you go:

The magnets go right over the carbon since it's fairly thin. It probably doesn't bind as well as it does without the cover, but it's good enough for me.

The biggest advantage of the iPad over the MacBook air is the cellular connectivity. That to me makes it a no-brainer for an iPad.

Also with the Verizon version, you can set up a mobile hotspot on 4G LTE. And it is blazing fast. To me, the MacBook air is too close to both a MacBook Pro and an iPad.
If I need the power of a laptop like a MacBook Pro, it is no big deal to you also bring a MacBook Pro with me. But, there are times that I am glad I can have a very slim and very portable device such as the iPad.
