Recent Software Update and Safari started snowballing.
I have been using my macbook for 4 years now without any issues until a couple of weeks ago when i did the most recent update.
I specifically recall an update to Safari being included and since then it's been running far slower and has begun to snowball, something it almost never did prior to the update. It's now slower switching between tabs, creating tabs etc.
Any idea what the issue is?
I've emptied my cache on safari and used the disk utlity thing to verify and repair. It's still running but i've done some googling and far too much crap came up.

Have you checked for updates since? Safari was recently updated again for SL and Lion.
Also, it is possible that you've got some browser add ons or extensions that now aren't supported, if you have any that is.

I'm still running the original operating system, haven't upgraded it!
I am such a basic user - email, iphoto and itunes that i've never had a need for anything different and know nothing about tech. where i would use extra features. I may just buy a new one if this keeps up.
Side note, Simba:
Can a slow internet connection screw with Safari? I brought my laptop to work today and haven't had a single issue with it with the connection at the office.

Are you on Tiger or Leopard? Either way, it's definitely worth an upgrade after 4 years or so (be it the operating system or the machine).

Check Web Inspector on the site(s) you're having issues with and note how many resources are being loaded and where the bottlenecks are.

After doing a few of Simba's rec. steps in the sticky it seems that the comp is running perfectly at the moment and is even better than it was before.
