External Apple Cinema problems . . .
Picked up an external 27" Cinema Display for my MBP this morning because my neck's been suffering after constantly having looked "down" on my laptop all these years.
But I can't seem to make it work the way I want.
The image is crisp as heck when I just use it as an extension to the MBP desktop (ie dragging things over). But when I mirror it -and that's what I want to do- it gets really blurry. I realize that, in order to "mirror" it properly, it has to adopt to whatever resolution the other unit has.
But it's absolute idiocy that it doesn't automatically work the other way around - the MBP screen should adopt to the external monitor because I'm not looking at that when I have an external monitor plugged in.
Any resolution to this?

Close the macbook lid.
For some daft reason unless you do, it will mirror the resolution of the macbook. If you close the lid, it goes into a different mode and voila... full res on the external monitor.
Plenty of threads saying closed lid use is safe. I've done it for 5+ years
