System preferences -> screen saver/display -> you'll figure it out from there.

upload in on flikr and download on the new or

upload on a flash drive and transfer to the new or

send it to yourself as an email.

See an image you like, any image.
Hold down the control key and hit the click bar, a dialog box comes up and gives you the option to save that pic to iPhoto or as new desktop.
