Don't be silly. Why would you want to make a "phone call"?
No one does that anymore. Bad reception is a feature.

Actually what I am interested to hear about is how does iPhone 4 compare to iPhone 3GS (updated with iOS4).

Better battery life, which is a big plus for me. Screen is beautiful. Thinner, but not as comfortable to hold while talking or texting, although I'm sure I'll get used to it. FaceTime (videochat) is a nice feature - particularly when the kids are away, so you can see their face. And reception is better for me than the old phone.

Overall it's nice. I'd say it's definitely more evolutionary than revolutionary compared to the 3GS, but worth upgrading to.

no complaints, i love mine so far. Love the new screen, camera and new processor. I have had slightly better service, still not perfect though. I think it is a huge upgrade from the 3gs. my biggest complaint (besides service) was the cheap feel of the 3gs.

Overall, I am very happy to have upgraded over my old 3G iPhone (not 3GS). As MB stated, the battery life is MUCH better and the screen is amazing. The OS is also pretty slick, although I also upgraded my wife's 3G (who wants to wait for the white iPhone 4) to iOS 4 which also works well.

HOWEVER...I will say the antenna issue IS real in areas with a weak signal (hello AT&T...) like my freaking house...at least for my phone. Where the signal is strong, I have not found an issue. But, where the signal is weak (1-2 bars), covering the lower left antenna with your palm and bridging the antenna will reduce reception and even eliminate it. Frankly, I can't believe that Apple didn't think about this ergonomic flaw for mainly right handed people in the design process. I understand that getting one of the rubber "bumpers" will prevent this from happening. Still, kind of a snafu if you ask me.

I just upgraded my 3GS to the new OS and am pretty happy with that upgrade. I had a chance to play with an IP4 yesterday as I was getting a car charger, and I was pretty impressed with the form factor; it looks like another winner (minus the antenna thing).

I'll wait on the IP4 to get all the bugs worked out and pray that Verizon gets one.

IPx FTW....ATT FTL!

I picked up two myself this morning (got screwed last night; long story short, a short power nap before leaving in the early morning hours turned into an all-day affair that left me iPhone-less with a heavy heart).

First impressions? Love it. The screen is just absolutely incredible, and a huge step forward. Everything is blazing fast in comparison to before (switching, etc.) & iOS 4 is just incredible.

That said, I will agree with others that this most definitely is an evolutionary release, rather than revolutionary (with the latter being something on par with the original iPhone release). However, that's not necessarily a bad thing; in my opinion, it's just indicative of already being on the right path.
