I was anti Mac as much as anyone.. I have been using pc's 12+ hours a day for 14 years now probably.. I bought a Macbook several years ago.. I used it a few days and never gave it a chance and returned it within the 7 day period in fear i wouldnt like it..

Well last year i went the 3 PC's with constant problems.. 2 of them I was being cheap on under 1k so i figured screw it ill buy 1 nice one.. I bought a 2k HP loaded with all the best parts.. Mind you Im not retarded, I used to be a floor manager for compaq upper level support.. I built computers etc.. Well the same issues with the PC.. always slow, always ad ware, always issues having to restart.. I keep open 20 things at 1x and i hate to restart my PC as i have AIM with 20 customers at 1x, emails pending 1/2 typed, websites open, pics uploading always something and restarting is a HASSLE!!

So i gave in and said screw it after 2 of my buddies said buy an Imac and give it 30 days.. Dont get rid of the PC at the shop keep it running if you need it but use the MAC for the 30 days before you say you dont like it..

Well lets just say I am now a spokeperon for MAC and spend my time BEGGING people to try it.. My friends said once you buy it all youll do is preach about it.. they werent lying.. Ill tell you things i love about the MAC that makes me NEVER EVER want to turn on a PC..

I restart once a month AT MOST.. maybe every couple..

Install programs, no restart needed..

Freezes RARELY if at all.. But never lost work i just had to save and close a couple things..

I can keep open 20 things no lagging at all..

EVERYTHING JUST WORKS when you plug things in.. No searching for drivers, look on disk, search web etc..

Seems once you adjust to the way the Mac works you think to yourself WTF didnt Microsoft think of this..

I guess i could go on and on.. Its hard to remember everything I love about.. But there was my longer than expected summary of why to buy a MAC.. I HIGHLY doubt any other manufacturer of computers has customers who find it a NEED to preach about how good the product is.. It really is that good..

oh and DJ i know its common sense but if there is anything you cant figure out or something that the mac is doing and you need to know why just google the exact issue.. If its happening to you its happening to 10k others and there is a resolution 99.9% of the time.. Setting it up just how you like it will take time.. Shortcut keys as well..

Almost 10 years of PC use now:

Restarts: When they need updates, they update (+restart) while I'm asleep and are ready to go when I wake up. Sure there are programs that require you to restart before you can use them but is the <1 minute it takes to restart really that precious to you?

NEVER had a PC freeze. I've used Macs a few times (friend's, school's, etc) and they have frozen on me.. very few times, but still >0 times.

20 separate applications? or 20 tabs? I can't even think of 20 programs you would even want to have running simultaneously.

Everything "just works" for me as well. Simply follow the install.exe and you have no problems.

You have been Very lucky.. Not much more i can say.. I have converted atleast 10 people i know and have yet to have 1 tell me they made a bad decision.. All i can say is if your happy with PC you would be EVEN HAPPIER with a MAC..

Its not the minute thats precious.. its the 20 minutes re setting everything back up i had open.. maybe not 20 programs but Right now running i have..

Ichat
Mail
Quickbooks
Internet
Photoshop
Itunes
Wordpad
excel
Sticky notes
Word
UPS software
Iphoto
Imovie
Backup software ( time machine )
limewire

I use them all thru out the day.. oH and what i love.. NO VIRUS / adware.. I open virus attachments just for fun.. I look for them on limewire just to entertain myself.. LOL

Sad as it is i haven't been just using PC's 14 years i have been using them like 10 hours a day as well.. I wish I had a Mac hour counter.. This MAC i have had 8 months approx and honestly 14hrs a day it runs non stop.. Turns off maybe 1x per month for updates and it still HAS NOT SLOWED DOWN.. Thats what amazes me.. With that type of usage my pc was LAGGY as hell always.. Going thru MSCONFIG to find dozens of programs to delete at startup ALWAYS, checking for virus, deleting adware, and it never stops..

DJ. Time for a Thinkpad brother. I was planning to get a MacBookPro as well this summer, but after consideration, I will be purchasing a X201 Tablet From what I know, Lenovos and IBMs are bulletproof.

But if you are fed up with Windows in particular, I completely understand.

Macs get hacked "less" because in the past there were less macs in the market, not because they are less vulnerable. They are, in fact, more vulnerable. Now that all of you are buying macs, more and more people will start building bypasses and other hacking tools directed at macs. Give it a while, you'll see.

I don't doubt it can be hacked. You said easiest. That is what I'm calling BS on.

Throw a BNIB Windows machine and a BNIB Mac onto an Internet connection and tell me which one is owned faster. Remotely, with no local user intervention.
