yep, no turning back. i was one of those that thought i would never convert...that was 2.5 years ago. my dad, i thought he would really never convert, he's a few months in and loving every minute. the user experience is hard to capture in words, but really - everything just works!

Thanks. I was trying to hide my inability to identify the car, but I don't feel so bad about it now as I was on the right track.

went from PC/SGI Machines while learning my trade, to a Mac, and finally got fed up with apple and the premiums, so I'm enjoying my win7 laptop.
I think people will go back and forth. But for what I was doing... visual effects/animation, the programs I needed just run that much better on the win7.
Congrats on the new machine, the Imacs are beautifully designed and well integrated. Definitely a great looking package.

Can't really compare PowerPC Macs with Intel Macs. Personally I think the new Apple products are leaps and bounds above the old. PC's are difficult to use at all - OS X is just better thought out and it shows. Spotlight actually works and the search function in mail is as good if not better than in Gmail. It offers a more complete solution for the everyday user that's also nice to look at, something anyone can appreciate.
Yes you pay more for the hardware but the build quality is there and the recent ~20% price reduction in laptops makes them much more competitive and affordable than before. I treat my laptop like shit, haven't turned it off in months, and it still runs as fast today as it ran three years ago. There is an added value to their products. Whether its worth the price premium is for you to decide. Give it a real try, you might actually like it.
