Need a Wireless Improvement Solution

We have one wireless router, located upstairs. We are running 5 computers and one wireless music system.

Coverage is spotty in the backyard. Sometimes good, sometimes choppy.

What can I do to improve the strength of the signal in the backyard?

Thanks.

What router (brand, model)? If it has external antennas, you can add high gain antennas and see if it helps. Otherwise, you might be in the realm of adding another wireless access point to the network to expand coverage.

It's a Linksys wrt54g.

I'm wondering if a wap54g downstairs closer to the outside would assist?

Why don't you just move your backyard upstairs? That, or what that Gobble guy said.

Have you tried to run an extender? I have an Airport Extreme and placed a few Airport Expresses throughout the house to extend the main wireless network range.

Get an 'N' router, faster and more range. Obviously putting it in the middle of the house would be best.

I would get the extended antenna option and see if that makes a difference. If that doesn't work it might be the aluminum from your airstream motorhome.

Throw it in the trash and replace it with an Airport. Then, if you need even more coverage, extend it with another airport or an airport express.
