Trying to free up some space on my Macbook HD
Are there any files I can eliminate? I have several iPhone restore files that are 150 megs each. Do I need all of these. Where else can I find some space eaters that are not needed?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Search for GarageBand. Some of the practice tracks total up to 2GB. You can also go through and delete some printer drivers you don't use (they can be downloaded again). Those, in total, add up to a few GB.
As well, try working through your iTunes/iPhoto libraries. Burn stuff to disc/HD/print that isn't looked at/listened to much. As well, you can go through and delete SOME applications that you don't use, but be careful, it can come back and bite you if you delete something you really really need.
The big things (in my experience) for space is usually pictures and music. Go through those, delete any Garageband file you can find (use Search), and just route through the stuff you put in folders, and have never looked at again.

First, if you haven't rebooted the machine in a while, do so. There are a lot of temporary files that can suck up space if you leave your machine running for long periods of time.
Beyond that, you can just blow away whatever applications and data files you're not using.
