i have an older MB which i love. i had a 15" powerbook previously and as you stated, it's a little cumbersome to travel with. with that being said, i haven't upgraded to the new MB because lack of firewire is a deal killer for me.

+1...just added a bigger hard drive (250) for $40...best travel laptop I have owned.

The FW port is huge for me on the MBP because I have many external HDs and the FW 800 port is fast and most importantly stable.

Also going to need that 512MB card when StarCraft 2 comes out!

If you are just going to be using it for Office, surfing, and e-mail then get the Air.

Apple should rename the Air to the MacBook, and make the MacBook a 13" Pro by giving it a good video card and FW. Also, the Pros have far better LED displays even though they may not appear to be so on paper. Also 2, the 17" Pro has phenomenal battery life (though oddly not removable) and an option for a very high resolution display.

I love my MacBook Air, but the quality of the screen is disappointing when compared to one of the new MBP's.
