Apple Warranty

They've been good to me. Wife spilled a coke on my keyboard, cleaned it up and didn't tell me. The next day I went to use my computer, keyboard was dead. Couldn't figure it out. Called apple, they asked to do a few "checks" nothing they said worked, so they sent a new keyboard, arrived the next day. I sent mine back in their packaging.
When new keyboard arrived, wife confessed. Felt a little bad about having apple replace it, but having purchased more than a dozen macs/imacs/ipods/iphones/powerbooks, etc, I figured it was ok.

Might want to consider additional laptop insurance too, it's about $40/year for me and damages up to €2k are covered. Applecare will not pay for the repairs if you drop your Macbook (like I did), insurance will.

Depends. If you don't travel a lot with it or aren't prone to laptop incidents, probably not. If you do, then yes, absolutely.
I don't buy it on my laptops as I rarely take them anywhere they're likely to die horrible deaths, but I do get Applecare on iPods, Displays, etc.

I'm planning on purchasing it. Speaking of which, I need to figure out when I bought my MBP, I'm coming up on a year. A bunch of my friends have had stuff go wrong with their MB/MBP. Your hard drive crashes, and all of a sudden the price of admission for Apple Care seems pretty minor. I'm guessing mine will be solid for a long time, as I tend to treat my stuff well, unlike most friends/college students, who beat the crap out of their computers, it's unreal.
Simba: Does this type of abuse contribute to failures on these machines quite a bit? That is, is there some type of connect between the student who treats their MB like crap and their HD going out?
