Got Verizon USB wireless for mac today

Went to the Verizon store and picked up a portable USB modem for wireless access..Figured I'd get to use it for 30 days worst case...Just set it up and it's pretty cool but at $60 a month, pretty expensive unless used all the time.

Good enough for my Vegas trip..

Anyone using a tethered connection for their mac's?

I had used the Blackberry 8830 on my thinkpad and it was really great...unfortunately the Treo 755p or the iphone (unless hacked, etc) won't work.

Verizon didn't have or even know about the new Treo Pro..

funny how each product serves a different purpose and with all these incredible options, so far there is not one perfect for all my needs..

Getting closer though..

I would love to tether my Bold to my Mac, but so far the closest I have got is "connecting" but not actually being able to send and receive to date. I'm hoping I can befriend a tech wizard this semester to help me out.

Wireless internet anywhere FTW

I wonder why these phones don't tether up to Macs? the 8830 on the thinkpad was so fast...The USB modem is def a more elegant solution, it's tiny, simple to set up and seems ok so far speedwise...but the 8830 on the Thinkpad felt faster but I could be wrong about that.

An iTouch wiht wireless internet and tether would be really great...

they do. I'm just mentally flawed when it comes to entering the proper settings/routing/passwords.

I used to use my w810i tethered all the time, then I got tired of EDGE speeds...now that I have 3G (3 years later) I can't seem to get it to work...boo.

Im going to try tethering through a cable in bootcamp and see if it works.

My BB 8330 tethers just fine. I generally use a Sprint CDMA ExpressCard on the road as I don't like running down the battery in my BB.

when you guys tether your phone, do you have to pay for a separate data plan?

It's like $30 a month for tethering i think..but you can also put it on hold as needed...month by month with contract.

works in Bootcamp or Mac OS? I couldnt get mine to work with Verizon on mac.

I hope the new Treo Pro or something can do it...$60 a month for this Verizon connection is alot...plus the data plan, etc on my Treo 755...makes sense if I am on the road all the time but I don't need it every day either.

I wonder why doing this on the mac is seemingly harder..

Unless you are Simba of course!

with my rogers plan I get 6gb of data for $30 and I can use it for anything I want.

edit: Id ont know if the bold will work with XP, I just know my SE worked flawlessly with it.
