Not very familiar with the reasons to unlock these phones..but curious if they can be used on a verizon network? What are the main reasons for hacking into them anyway?

The main reason people unlock their iPhones is so that they can use them abroad without paying outrageous roaming fees. I don't think that these phones support the Verizon network.

Since Verizon and Sprint are TDMA based phones, they do not work with unlocked GSM phones.

Unlocking is making the phone available for use with other GSM providers (in this situation, other than AT&T).

Jailbreaking is allowing the phone to install applications, transfer music, and change the firmware bypassing the use of iTunes and the Apple Store.

Verizon and Sprint use the CDMA network.

Unlocked GSM phones will work with any GSM provider, either in the states (T-Mobile, AT&T) or abroad (T-com, Orange, Etc...)

Nein.

The Touch can't talk to any cellular network-- no radio in it.
