5 of my best friends have macbooks/pro's and none of us have ever even attempted to use the built in isight.

How does one go about setting up an ichat account?

assume all our emails are either myname@hotmail or myname@gmail...


I have also heard rumblings of being able to use msn through ichat as well - which would be nice as I am beggining to get frusterated with adiums painfully slow file transfers.

Not sure about MSN, but I use AIM and Google Talk through the iChat client without any problems. Launch iChat and it'll walk you through adding your accounts. If it's AIM, just use your AIM login/password, etc.

 

canadians don't use AIM. its brutal.

 

Launch iChat, select Preferences from the menu, click the Accounts tab, click the plus sign button under the accounts column.
