Apple people...

I purchased a early '08 Penryn MBP on sale a week after the new ones were released. I loved the performance bump from my 12" PB, but I have come to be annoyed constantly by the nagging crackles and pops from the (apparent) sound card issue.

The reason I didnt purchase the new MBP was due to $$ factors, and the reason I didnt go with the new MB was due to my ext. HDD is FW. Oh, I also dislike the glossy screen. I took my MBP into apple to see if they could fix the audio issue (kind of wanted to just hear what they would say) and they offered a new MBP as a replacement.

What would you do? I dont like the sound issues, but I also like the matte screen. Given the choice which would you take and why?

Cheers.

pony up and get a new pro.
for me, i love my old mb and won't switch because fw is a deal killer for me. i also won't buy a pro because 15" is a little too cumbersome to travel with.

Take the new one. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Same here, my externals and vidcam all rely on FW connections, so not ready to deal with changing.

I'd keep the matte one. But then, I work around light sources, and hence have a pathological revulsion to glossy screens.

I used to hate glossy screens as well, then I got a laptop with one for traveling and love it. For some reason things just look much more clear to me and I never really see glare on it. Get the new one!
