GTS to 599??? Help Me Take Emotion out of it...

The first thing that popped into my head was "Chris Harris did just that!"
And as I scroll down, I see someone has beaten me to it.
I know very little about Supercars in terms of experience with them. But I'm a huge Porsche nut and I would never part with my 911, rattles and squeaks be damned!
I know, you aren't sold on the 991, but what about going aftermarket? Or Porsche Tequipment? I believe the new power kit is out and yeah, it's bloody expensive. But it does come with that fab PSE.
Think about it, your Carrera GTS is essentially a Carrera S + X51 + 4S' haunches (without the reflector), if I'm not wrong?
I'm with you on the spoiler thing too. Especially on the 991. It looks like a mess at the moment, the whole Aero-Kit Cup thing. And it looks like the GT3 will have the same kit. Sad, given that the Aero-Kit on the 997 was a stunner.

It's the new car orders that you typically need a relationship with the dealers in order to get allocations, not so much issue for Pre-Owned. Of course, the most dealers know their client's wants/wish lists, so when they know of a car coming in, they may have a buyer for it before it gets there...so in that matter having a relationship with the dealer helps out.
In this case, I don't have any of those problems. It's merely finding a car that I want and working the numbers...

My personal feeling is that I would have enjoyed owning my M3, Z06 and C2S a lot more when I was younger. Not saying I don't appreciate what I have, but boy would I love to have had these when I was in my 20's or 30's. My point is that if you're a car nut, when/if the window ever opens, gotta dive in while it still means something; not when its ticking off a "bucket list" item. You've already conceptualized ownership so all you are doing now is trying to get over the logic hurdle - a rather large hurdle but obviously not insurmountable. Once you accept that you're plunking down a large sum of cash for a depreciating asset with high maintenance costs and limited day-to-day utility (relative to a 997) you're set. And as far a regrets, its pretty safe to assume that once you get the 599 out of your system, you'll be able to get back into a GTS rather easily and cheaply.
Thanks guys. I'm so on the fence here...but have found a car and working through final numbers before calling a local Ferrari specialist for a PPI. The thing about it is I'm less concerned about whether I'll enjoy the 599 as I am with the potential regret of letting go of the GTS. I've had a couple of cars that I let go of that I've regretted ever since: a 01 Boxster S and an old 98 RX-7.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I just recently let go of my Targa4S (997.2) 6MT to get into an M5. My dream was to keep the Targa and add the M5 but a series of circumstances and 2 non-fault collisions would have killed me if I bought it at the end of the lease. "Meant to happen" - I am not a huge leasing fan and just the fact that I did and it was a walk away I felt that it was a sign to just move on as much as it hurt.
Today I saw a 991 parked and driving behind me on 2 seperate occasoins. I am not sure what Porsche has done but it does not attract like the GTS/C4S/Turbo/GT 997 line. I am hoping that with the new 991 C4S and other variants that Porsche will figure out how to attract my eye once again.
Its amazing reading your dilemma because I would also love to add a 599 MT to the stable - it would be an epic car to keep forever! Hopefully if all goes well with the business come 2014 I will either pickup a new R8, 991 variant, or add a 599. The amazing thing about the Ferrari is that each time you turn that key to start its almost an epic moment in time to cherish. I could watch 599 reviews all day...

Passed on that one. Too many small things that didn't feel comfortable with. Plus BW seems like its back in the business of hitting the lotto with it's trade offers. Even if I wanted that car, they would make it difficult. They offered about $10k less than almost every other trade offer that I've received.
And it's MAROON. Too many Aggie fans around here would think I'm one of them.
