Sports car winter tyre test

Maybe depends if you are gonna do something like drive 395 through all the mountain passes or something. I used to do that, stop on the side of the road and look up north to the snow falling, then pan south and watch everything turn brown and dusty all in one view..love the Tahoe/Truckee area. I dunno..when it comes down up there, it can really come down.
Spent the 90's living in Cow Hollow (just south of the Marina)..Union and Fillmore in San Francisco..drove a Honda Civic Del Sol through all those winters and never *needed* tire chains with its front wheel drive, but there were some very close calls with no one coming the other way up on those mountain passes and I wished I was better prepared.
P.S. nice avatar pic! That 4S rear is gorgeous. Can't wait to see yours!!!

I also went to college in Ann Arbor where I drove front when drive Infiniti g20 and then civic throughout a couple of winter seasons I was studying my eng...it was challenging! But I do have little experience driving in such weather...those cars didn't have summer tires though.
My only experience driving with summer tires in snow is with my pilot ps2s on my bimmer during heavy snow fall in flagstaff az area. It wasn't too bad but I've gotta admit, no challenging slopes there...
I guess for Tahoe, I would take the straight routes (highway 80?) and could stretch it up to squaw valley, perhaps. I think I'll take my chances and stay with summer tires then and see how it goes

I've borrowed this avatar since its closest to what I have on order...GT silver 4S...I've got all black body kit parts painted in GT silver though....can't wait...I keep on calling my sales guy every other day asking about the status..commend his patience with me so far

Got the wheels and tires on for winter! Was waiting for Griot's wheel lug adapter set and it came today. It's really a nice little set, plastic covers over the lug adapters so as not to damage the wheels, and its own case.
The Michelin Alpin 4's have an indicator on the sidewall as well to show which way the tire tread should face. The "V" points to the front in the treads..simple enough but I never changed performance winter tires like this before.
The tool kit under the front bonnet or (or frunk, I guess has the locking lug bolt adapter as well.
Should have heavy rains very soon, looking forward to testing the tires in the rain at least. Correct torque is now 118 ft/lb according to the manual, different than previous models I believe.
