SharkWerks Project 991S Unleashed: First Complete TechArt Conversion in US
This gorgeous Agate Grey metallic (a new color for 2012) Carrera S came into us straight from the dealership. The owner of the car has flown with SharkWerks several times before and so it came straight off the truck and landed here at the Shark Tank for a complete TechArt conversion (the first one in the US) from head to tail. A full aerokit including the Type II rear wing, the forged Type III wheels and spring kit are just some of the goodies for this conversion.
In she comes:
12 years of difference, 991 vs the 996:
Off with those heavier stock wheels (more on that later):
The suspension is quite different in the rear-end vs the outgoing 997.2 but the springs are relatively easy to get to:
The TechArt Lowering Spring kit ready to go on:
The front springs installed:
Rears also installed:
The TechArt Type III wheels are ready to go with factory TPMS installed and tires mounted. A nice weight saving of 4 pounds in the front and 6 pounds per corner in the rear from TechArt's forged wheels comes in handy:
And here we have a few of the TechArt aero goodies freshly baked in Agate Grey:
The front grill add-on inserts give the car an aggressive look but there's a fair amount of modification that needs to be done:
Being installed:
Also for the front is a multi-layered Type 1 front lip the start of which you can see here:
Almost finished:
Over to the rear end and the start of the disassembly:
The TechArt Type II rear wing sports a good few parts before it's affixed. You can have it in two positions but the base goes first:
Relocating the third brake light:
Attaching the wing blade and the "higher" mode risers/supports:
A rear shot without the rear diffuser:
And now with the TechArt rear diffuser installed:
The chrome dual TechArt tips were added to finish things off:
#2
Over to the sides now and the new TechArt side skirt kit which utilizes factory-style hardware and an extra lower mounting support piece:
And installed:
Now over to the interior, along with a TechArt pedal kit we set about changing the steering wheel and installing shifter paddles:
The flat-bottom custom alcantara TechArt wheel vs the factory:
Installed:
Notice the stitching:
A quick 5hp additive!
A side view of the TechArt Formula III wheels:
The front end is accessorized with the TechArt Headlight trims including covers and light washers:
And then the TechArt mirror trims:
And now ready for a few beauty shots:
TechArt's version of the 991 in the flesh:
Big bottom!
Side profile:
And more:
The front:
Ready to go home until next time when the TechArt Sport exhaust arrives...
And installed:

Great work as always Alex! Amazing how upright and outdated the 996 looks by comparison, as it is still commonly known as the beginning of the "modern" era for 911s.
Also -- someone needs to get you guys a decent camera! Your work is just too completely awesome to leave to phone quality .
