I am curious if this option can be added to 2012 991's with 7spd manual tranny's with SC. It sounds interesting but like Guest mentioned for street application Rev matching or throttle blip is not that difficult to master. Heel and toe is another matter.

sounds interesting!! but don't think it could be upgraded for CS... just like their power enhancement kit to 430hp... could not be upgraded afterwards since the cylinder head/ camshafts/ intakes....etc don't think its just a programing thing for this option... Porsche stuttgart Germans just don't do things that way....

Are you guys sure double declutching translates to auto rev match?

I wouldn't be happy if I had this on my car, rev matching is an skill I want to perform, takes time to learn but Its not impossible or that difficult, persoanlly nothing makes me happier than a perfect set of blip from 5th to 2nd

That is blatantly wrong. There's no physical limitation built into vehicles that prevents you from heel & toe downshifting smoothly at any magnitude of decelerating.

You don't have to be threshold braking to heel & toe downshift. I agree it's best to learn under aggressive braking, but that can be done on the street. That's how I learned, so I don't see any reason other people could not do the same.

In both my Lotus and my DD Subaru, I h&t practically all downshifts. No need to coast in neutral or with the clutch depressed when slowing down for a turn, for example. Heel and toe downshift, but do it slower.

If you're jerky while downshifting, you just need to adjust the timing of how your hitting the pedals, and how much force you're applying to the accelerator pedal (and for how long.) I'm not perfect, as I'm still jerky sometimes. But that's my fault, and I just need to be smoother and slightly more focused.

Might be lost in translation but double declutching refers to the process used with unsynchronized gears. Not sure how they could accomplish this with a traditional clutch, unless there's a mechanical override of the clutch and throttle.

More likely it refers to automatic rev matching. Sure its not pure, but if its any good it will always be better than the driver doing it. So long as you can turn it off let them built it to sell more manuals to posers. If you're that good turn it off. If not, use it to learn (see, listen) how its done correctly.

So it's not really a manual gearbox then, is it . . .

Pathetic. Between this and the faux sound in the M5, I am starting to wonder whether anything will be genuine in cars ten years from now.

Agreed. The Germans are pushing this as advancement but its a bit sad. Even my beloved Lotus is selling automatics now. Time to scoop up old cars before everyone else catches on?

Actually really disappointed when I heard this! I was hoping it didn't mean rev-matching...

My favorite part about driving manual is trying to hit the perfect rev-matched downshift! I've been driving for a couple years now and I am still not even close to perfect every time. I can't heel/toe at all, but rev-match downshifts are still fun

Looking more and more like PDK is the better option.
