in all fairness
any hydrau electric system has its flaws and set backs
it is only advisable if for practical reasons or traffic conditions
otherwise, 6speed is of course more involving, fun, etc

edit: have not read up on the r8's system
but if it is anything like the fcar and lambo, then yeah 6mt/pdk any day of the week for ease of mind + fun if 6spd and traffic not an issue

I'd go with the 991... For everyday use, reliability and supercar-like performance the Porsche is unbeatable. Only issue you'd be facing is if there isn't a dealer network to service your car and honor your warranty.

Have had both.

R8 wins my vote.

I'd like to add to the conclusion, how does the Aston Martin V8 Vantage fare in the same criteria against the 991S and R8 V8?

It doesn't.

The Aston LOOKS and SOUNDS amazing. IMHO the best out of the three.... (blasphemy, I know)

-that's where it ends.

It's electronics are antiquated at best, it drives like a brick and its transmission is bleh!

yeah he said it perfectly. i love the way the aston looks and sounds but not much else

I have an audi and a porsche and the porsche is by far the wayyyy superior car in every aspect. i have driven an r8 and was not impressed at all with the r tronic. it was like a wannabe bmw smg or whatever they call it but not nearly as good. doesnt even have the dual clutch s tronic like the s4 does yet ( i think they're going to add that in the new model though.) that being said, the r8 does look sportier than the 991 but you can add sport exhaust and whatever else to make the 911 more sporty. i'd go for the 991 because of the better transmission and newer technology. the current r8 is a dinosaur and will soon be replaced whereas this 911 will be around for a while..

Yeah the Aston looks awesome. How's the DB9 then? It's slightly more expensive, but is that a better driver? What about the new SL?

Yes DB9 is an old man's car ... nothing wrong with new SL63 std SL no go... just buy a 991 and be done... the car will be into 10 limited editions by the time you make a decision here.

CLOSE THREAD BUY 991S and DRIVE.
